E waste is any electrical and electronic equipment which is out of use for being phased out with a new model purchase, breakage or just discarded. Usually these equipments lie around in workplaces or at homes consuming spaces. The alternative to this is to sell them if they are in repairable condition for refurbish. There may be some vendors in your streets doing so, or you can look for some online vendors such as zerowaste.co.in which may offer you even smart exchange. Gurgaon based Zero Waste offers solutions around several cities including Jaipur.
India generates over 3 million metric tonnes of e-waste which is being managed by the unorganized sector. Looking into this Ecoreco, India’s first e-waste management company has planned to integrate the junk dealers (kabadies) in their network. Green Waves Recyclers Association in Vizag have come forward setting up e-waste bins at about 50 places in the city.
As responsible citizens, we must ensure that we are not dumping the e- waste adding to the landfills and creating pollution leading adverse impact on our own health.
